I love to find local Businesses because I feel that it brings attention to someone working so hard to create the perfect piece. I happened to find these absolutely adorable headbands for my toddler on Etsy a few months back, and I waited for the Fall colors to come out and ordered right away! I got them super quick and I absolutely loved them. After ordering I took a look back at the shop where I had purchased them and found the most beautiful signs, doormats, bows, and even shirts. The signs are customizable and the doormats you can personalize, which made it even more appealing to me, since we just purchased our first home! Then I realized this shop was out of MINNESOTA!

I reached out to Laura of Lovely Lettering Laurabecause she sent the sweetest discount code with my order. She hand wrote it and all … something you don’t always see these days. It made my order feel special. I thought you might like to get to know her a little more!

Why I started Etsy:

I grew up loving art! I would craft whenever I got the chance! I didn’t start making signs until a few years ago when my sisters started having babies and they wanted me to make them decor for their nurseries. I posted pictures on Instagram of the signs I painted and lettered. My family and friends saw the art I had made and continually told me I needed to sell on Etsy. I always responded with “maybe one day!” After receiving so much encouragement and questions about when I was going to open a shop, I decided to launch my Etsy shop last Christmas (‘17) selling hand-lettered wooden signs. I chose the name Lovely Lettering Laura.

How I got into selling bows:

One day my sister was showing me hair bows she had ordered online for her baby. The bows were so cute but I was shocked when she told me the price she paid for a single bow! I told my sister that I wanted her to come with me to the fabric shop and I’d sew her bows for a fraction of the cost. She posted pictures of the bows I made and I started getting questions from her friends about where they could buy my bows! I decided to add them to my Etsy shop last spring (‘18).

What makes me unique:

All my signs are hand lettered- I never use stencils. Most of the signs I make are custom, many people come to me with a quote that means a lot to them/their family and they want it displayed on a sign to put in their home. I love when people trust me to create something that holds great meaning to them. Unlike some of the popular bow businesses, I do the creating, sewing, and shipping of bows- so I am able to sell bows at a fraction of the cost without paying middlemen.

My favorite part about selling to others is receiving pictures of how my signs and bows are styled. I love seeing others get excited about something I worked hard to make for them.  – Laura
